16 attractions to open to tourists

Tourists who are in the 15-day travel biological bubble are now allowed to visit 16 tourist attractions while respecting health and safety protocols issued by the Ministry of Health.

The Temple of the Tooth Relic or Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, the Popham Arboretum in Dambulla, the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, the Ridiyagama Safari Park, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, the safari from Yala National Park, Minneriya National Park, Udawalawe National Park Safari, Horton Plains National Park, Mirissa, Sinharaja, Hurulu Ecological Park and Udawattakele Sanctuary are among the 16 attractions recommended for tourists .

Sri Lanka has decided to open all tourist attractions to foreign visitors entering Sri Lanka through the concept of the travel biological bubble, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

However, SLTDA will ensure that all workers in hotels, tourist sites including parks, guides and others related to the tourism industry are vaccinated in order to move forward with the decision.

In addition, SLTDA has decided to waive the cost of renewing tourism operating licenses.

Before boarding a flight, travelers are required to have a valid tourist visa. Before applying for the visa, a pre-confirmed reservation in one or more level 1 hotels “Certified safe and secure” for up to 15 days depending on the length of stay, vaccination status, payment from the hotel or the travel agency for compulsory local Covid-19 travel insurance coverage at $ 12 per day for a policy of US $ 50,000 for a period of one month (including for children under two years of age), payment for hotel or travel agent for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing ($ 40 per PCR test) depending on vaccination status and have a negative PCR test performed within 72 hours prior to boarding theft, are essential.

Travelers who have completed the recommended doses of the Covid-19 vaccination and who arrive two weeks after the vaccination has ended will be considered fully vaccinated travelers. Any type of vaccination accepted by the country of origin is acceptable.

In the event of a negative PCR test report on arrival (first day), vaccinated travelers can leave the travel bio bubble. The respective level 1 hotel doctor will issue an “exit document” after verification of vaccination status and PCR test results.
