ABILENE, Kan. (KSNT) – The town of Abilene invites people to enjoy a ‘Christmas in Cowtown’ this weekend. The event features over two dozen vacation-themed attractions on Saturday and Sunday.
Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Julie Roller Weeks said the town has decided to combine all of their annual Christmas events into one big celebration across town, including the famous Heritage Homes for the Holidays.
âThis is our 44th year for the Heritage Homes for the Holidays tour,â Weeks said. It attracts people from all over the Midwest to our community and all of our tourist attractions have also used this weekend to provide some great activities for people who come to our community.
In addition to tours of heritage homes, the historic Seelye is open for vacation tours. There’s also Cowboy Christmas in Old Abilene Town and Old Fashioned Christmas from the Dickinson County Historical Society.
“We’re going to have kids’ crafts here,” said DCHS director Austin Anders. âWe will have Santa Claus. We will have the 1901 park carousel for the children to ride. We will have hot chocolate on the cook’s stove in the cabin with cookies.
Saturday night concludes with a downtown fireworks display and acoustic show by Dallas Pryor in Old Town Abilene. Click here for a full schedule of events.
