Loving and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother Linda Barringer of Missoula passed away suddenly on September 25, 2021. She was 85 years old.

She met and married her husband, Henry “Red” Barringer, in Miles City, and they raised their sons, Dwight and Greg, there until they moved to Missoula in 1968. She retired on her return to Missoula. Linda was a life member of the early Presbyterian churches in Miles City and Missoula, and taught Sunday School at both locations.

She loved being at the water’s edge, at the “pond” of boats in Miles City, then at Salmon and Seeley Lakes – an unusually graceful water skier and counter-head to deer, birds and other animals on night cruises around Lake Seeley. Linda loved to travel and learn about other cultures. She has visited all but a small handful of states, Europe on several occasions, as well as Russia, China, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti and Mexico. Prolific writer of letters, fan of Scrabble, tenacious ping-pong player, refined pianist, regular at the Y pool and weekly lunches with friends, master of jello salads and puddings, square / round dancer and dress and shirt seamstress to him, a wound healer, family rule legislator, chief investigator of stray sons, Linda’s interests and activities were wide and varied, and his life was full of activity.
Most of all, Linda loved her family. They were the center of his life. She is survived by her husband, Red, her sons, Dwight and Greg, her daughter-in-law, René, her former daughter-in-law, Judy, her grandchildren, Jacob and Rachel, as well as many step-siblings. . , nephews, nieces, cousins, cousins, their respective families and many friends. Linda will always be a part of their life.
