Ian Scott is personally in the ring for Engineer of the Year in the 50-150 vehicle weight class, and the company itself is a finalist for Medium Coach Operator of the Year.

The finalists of the 2022 edition routeone rewards were announced: the most outstanding humans in the coach and bus industry.

The awards are for those nominated by their industry peers: being invited to participate is an accomplishment in itself. All nominees were invited to submit an entry, explaining why they deserve the highest accolades in the industry.

Now, a diverse judging panel of industry experts has come together to create a shortlist of potential winners from an outstanding selection of entries. The finalists are now set to be recognized as the best in the business in a spectacular black-tie event on Wednesday November 2 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

Helen Conway, Event Director, said: “After two years of industry disruption, we are delighted to welcome the routeone rewards again in November.

“As always, the awards aim to recognize individuals and operators for their exemplary achievements during a fantastic in-person pitch night where we can truly celebrate the best of our industry. It’s a huge achievement to be shortlisted, and we wish all of our finalists the best of luck.

A total of 68 finalists will compete in 15 categories, including two new categories. The Above and Beyond award recognizes individuals or companies who have gone the extra mile to support their organization and the wider coach and bus industry since 2020.

Exceptional Customer Experience recognizes the individual or team that has put the experience of their customers at the forefront of their thinking and intends to maintain it.

Interviews for six categories of people will take place in September to help the judges determine the winners.

There is no shortlist for the special price. This is the only category that is not open for entries and is instead decided between the judges based on who deserves special recognition for their contribution to the industry.

Now in its 16th year, the routeone rewards features a jury of seven industry personalities, each bringing a broad level of knowledge and experience in a variety of disciplines. Returning judges include Joan Aitken OBE, former traffic commissioner for Scotland; Kevin Middleton, former engineering consultant; Peter Nash, former head of commercial policy for Stagecoach UK Bus; Richard Delahoy, transportation consultant; and Steve Dewhurst, former CEO of Volvo Buses.

Former Nottingham City Transport Managing Director Mark Fowles OBE and former Volvo Buses Product Engineering Manager Norman Thomas join the panel for their first year.

The identity of the winners remains a closely guarded secret until the presentation evening which will be held on Wednesday November 2 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

Tickets cost £173 + VAT from routeoneawards.com.
