The University Scholarships Commission (UGC) on Thursday issued an important circular regarding the visit of students to tourist destinations identified under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) for the implementation of the national education policy (NEP) 2020.
The Ministry of Tourism has published a list of 100 tourist destinations. Educational institutions are required to send students from the EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat program to study the destinations, their history, scientific contributions, traditions, literature and indigenous knowledge, etc. diversity of the country.
Three Odisha sites – Konark, Lake Chilika and Udaigiri-Khandagiri Caves – are on the list of 100 sites identified by the Ministry of Tourism.
In a letter to rectors of all universities, the UGC ordered all higher education institutions to organize the visits only when the Covid-19 restrictions are completely lifted.
“Students can be encouraged to learn about these places and organize activities digitally. A report of activities undertaken can be sent to the Ministry of Education by emailing [email protected], ”the letter from UGC reads.
It is relevant to mention here that the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 proposes to strengthen and promote the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) among students. One activity related to the EBSB for the implementation of the NEP, 2020 is “the visit of students to 100 identified tourist destinations in the country, adds the notice.
