The Upper West regional office of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has called on the public to frequent the tourist spots in the region to experience rich culture and hospitality.
This, according to them, would contribute to the development of tourism in the region and the country as a whole if the public aroused an interest in tourism.
Mr Moses Ndebugri, regional director of the Authority who launched the appeal in a press release in copy from the Ghana News Agency in Wa over the weekend, said they would mark World Tourism Day with sightseeing tours to interact with tourist site managers and tour guides on their level of compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) World Tourism Day commemoration takes place annually on September 27 to raise awareness among the international community about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value. .
The GTA, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, will this year celebrate World Tourism Day in Hohoe in the Volta region with the theme: “Tourism for inclusive growth”.
There will be a healthy march and a great durbar of the chiefs and the people.
