YONG PENG: A new vaccination center (PPV) will open near the popular tourist attraction Prosperity Dragon here on July 18, saving city residents the hassle of traveling to other cities for their Covid vaccines. 19.
Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who is also transport minister, said the PPV will be housed in the Che Ann Khor Moral Uplifting Society Multipurpose Hall here.
The company is also home to the 106.9m dragon statue launched by the ruler of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar in 2016.
Dr Wee said the PPV would be able to deliver 500 doses per day once it started working, before gradually increasing to 2,000 daily doses from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“The company approached my team in June and suggested that their venue be converted to a PPV for the benefit of members of the public.
“After a few rounds of discussions and on-site visits to the district office, health department, Yong Peng District Council and other agencies, the plan was operational.
“This location is suitable as a PPV because it is accessible, has a large parking space and the locals know it well.
“After that, the people of Yong Peng will no longer need to travel to Parit Raja and Batu Pahat (more than 20 km away) to receive their vaccines, as they do now,” he said. ‘a press conference after an on-site visit on Sunday 11 July. ).
He added that installation work would begin on Monday and that once operational, the PPV would be made up of 145 employees from the Department of Health, District Council, Police, KPJ Healthcare, People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela ) and other volunteers.
